Client Evaluations

This pump is much quieter and more robust than my earlier sump pump, which had a plastic housing. The cast iron housing gives this pump a solid really feel and keeps vibrations, and therefore noise, to a minimal. I've been employing this pump for a few weeks of heavy Spring rain and it is kept my basement dry without having a problem.
Please be aware that you are going to want to install a check valve in the discharge pipe to stop backflow immediately after the pump stops. The 1.5" discharge is threaded, so you could invest in either a threaded valve or install one inline promptly above the pump. I bought an inline valve for less than $10 from a local hardware store.

This was a fairly a decent pump for the 1st two months. Moved solids nicely and did not clog. I unplugged the pump one day and plugged it back in only to uncover the pump "humming." No clogs. When I got myself down into the water to remove the pump, I picked it up by the base and received a negative electrical shock.. Scary, rather scary. Following removing the pump and trying it once again, I discovered that it had simply quit. The plug the unit was running on was not a ground fault. I've gone by means of a quantity of these forms of pumps over the years. Not sure if the lack of a GFI had one thing to do with being shocked, or if the pump was faulty. At any rate, Amazon was good adequate to allow me to return the pump soon after my return date. My recommendation: know your application and then decide to buy the suitable pump. These are sporadic light duty pumps at top that had a 2 year shelf life. If you happen to be seeking for one thing to drain standing water just about every once in awhile, this pump is not bad. Something else that is continous, or has to manage solids, spend the funds and decide to buy a decent pump.
