The 1/three HP submersible sump pump from Superior Pump will move up to 40 gallons of water per minute. UL listed and safe, this pump is created of corrosion resistant thermoplastic with an adjustable float switch to automatically turn the pump on/off. This pump has a effective, however energy effective (4.1 amps) motor for longer life and durability. Equipped with a suction screen on the bottom this utility pump can whisk away water to 1/8 of an inch from the floor. Also included is a MNPT discharge with a removable adapter for FMPT applications.

I bought this pump to partially drain my 30,000 gallon pool to get the cyanuric acid level down.
It drained about 7,500 gallons in about 3 hours which matches the 40 gallon/hr rating. It was sitting on a pool step and the rise was about 1.5 ft utilizing a 25ft, 1.25 inch plastic hose kit I bought at OSH (neighborhood hardware store).
I could barely hear the pump wile it was running. The small floater that turns off the pump kicked in when there was about three inches of water at the base. I think the instructions say that you can drain substantially lower, but I guess you have to have to "override" the floater to do this.
I am rather happy about this buy - the cost was about $75 much less than the pump that the nearby pool supply store sold with approx same specs. It came with a screw-on adapter that fit into my hose kit. No adapter for normal hose, but I'm positive that is low-priced to get.
My only regret was that I drained into the street's gutter, but discovered out later that the water would finish up in the local streams, marshes, and so on. Next time I'll drain into a sink or bathtub working with a regular 100ft hose. It'll take twice as lengthy, but be better for the environment. If you have a sewer cleanout port nearby, you can darin into that.
